GATE students at Stone Valley are clustered within CORE sections. Within those classes, teachers can differentiate their instruction to meet the needs of GATE students. Math is differentiated through placement in advanced math classes. Enrichment activities are provided both in and outside the classroom, which are available for all students, but highly encouraged for GATE students to participate in.

Core GATE Cluster
GATE students at Stone Valley are clustered within CORE sections. Within those classes, teachers can differentiate their instruction to meet the needs of GATE students.
Forensic Science
In this elective class, emphasis is on understanding the underlying scientific theories of forensic science, with special emphasis on investigating skills such as hair analysis, DNA fingerprinting, and the casting of bite, tire, and shoe prints.
Jazz Band
This class is open to any 7th or 8th grade student who successfully completes a playing audition on saxophone, trombone, trumpet, drums, piano, electric car, or bass. This is a performing group that plays in many concerts and festivals throughout the year.
Media Graphics
The main goal of this elective class is to provide for school wide communication through a school news show that features announcements and clips of middle school life. In this hands-¬‐on class, students learn the basics of television production, use of camera equipment, script writing, editing video/video effects/video graphics, designing and organizing both live and recorded programs.
PTA Reflections
This is an art recognition and achievement program. Reflections challenges students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents to craft that supports a specific theme. Refer to the Peach Jar on the Stone Valley web page.
Geography Bee
Students compete and compare their knowledge of geography in this contest at the school level. Students move on to the district, county, and national levels.
